I didn't include dates for pics and comments intentionally, so no one would notice how inactive this page becomes. =P

How about a search function? Searching for keywords in the comments would result in a list of pictures related to a class/monster/[whatever keyword]?

Hmm, I could implement it, but I don't know if anyone would actually use it... I mean, what would you search for? Usually you just check for new edits, I doubt anyone comes here thinking "I'm looking for a sprite edit of the Kafra in Alberta.", you know what I mean? Since we don't categorize the pics (we thought about it, but didn't know how), I don't think a search function would be of any help.
Maybe I implement it next time I'm bored tho... X)

Maybe make Categorys
and make an option before posting that you must select a category

then have Links for each category :D
and maybe beside the links show "New" if somethign new has been uploaded there
(this is for incase someone misses a "new post" thats been bumped off the main page)

Anime Sprite Edits
Game Sprite Edits
Sig Sprite Edits
Random Sprite Edits

How about searching in titles or comments. For example, if I enter 'poring,' all pictures with titles and/or comments containing 'poring' would appear. More often than not, the results would include sprite edits that have porings in them.

Well that's possible, but who cares about the categories really? I still think pretty much no one here looks for an edit of a certain sprite category. >_< I would have to change the pics table in the database for that, and I'm not gonna do that unless I see a very good reason to do so, as it's probably gonna blow up some sub pages. q_q


Hmm yea, that might work without too much trouble. I'll get to it once I find time (= don't play Baten Kaitos or Mario Picross XD)!

If we go for a search based on keywords, everyone would have to set a few keywords for every single sprite, i.g. "Poring" "headgear" for my Poporing Hat. I don't think this is needed (yet). Rather an option "Show all new Sprites since my last log-in". ;p

Well I could search through the comments, pic titles and descriptions if I get the SQL syntax right. I guess I try to make a small search form in the menu, with checkboxes for Comments and Pics. So everyone could finally search for "poring"... XD

Hmm i dun think the categorizing is such a bad idea, neither is the one with the keywords. After all this concept has worked well on Deviantart for 3 years (even though only payed account users are able to use the search option) But i know many people that go through the single categories (on DA example Traditional art for pics drawn on paper and scanned, Photography.. well... for photos, d'uh, and Digital art for pics completly or mostly done on computers...) There should be like "Made up chars/Races/Monsters", "Custom headgears", "Edits with Background", "Animated Edits" and maybe one can have more than one category >.o" im so broken XD

I implemented a basic search function, it works on pic titles, pic descriptions and comments, so you can search for your "poring" now... XD

I just had an idea about the keyword thingy, I might be able to pull it of without changing the pics table by making a simple pics<->category cross table. Only problem is I'd have to change the upload and edit forms... But yea, I might do that next time I'm bored.

Soooo, what categories? I like the idea of seperating "animated" and "not animated", also "with background" and "without background" should be fine. But aside from that I need more suggestions like Andany made.

Looking to the edits I've seen so far I only can think of the categories "cute", "cute" and "even more cute" q.q I'm sorry, this surely won't be of any help, but I just had to mention it (don't want to spam "cute!"-comments to several edits, as actually noone would be really happy to read these. :x)

I have to add that I really like the Search-Stuff, because I just love searching for pics with or without any sense (google, elfwood, etc q.q)

I'm finding the seach useful already. I did a search for 'priest' and a lot of edits got good exposure.
I was surprised to find a result for 'getbackers,' and as of today, no results for 'creamy.'

Then I entered 'poring.' There were duplicate results. Something to do with not using UNIQUE in a SQL query. Other than that, it's nice work all around.

p.s. Can '' be replaced by the Ragnarok emoticon?

Humm yea, that's because it checks both the pics table and the comments table for results, but you're right, I should just use UNIQUE in the query. :D

Edit: I fixed that multiple results thingy... Actually the modifier was DISTINCT, but yea, it should work now.

Edit2: I implemented some emoticons, you can use them like you use them in RO.

What about a longer list of "new" Edits? I can't visit the site every day, so I miss many new edits because only the even newer ones are displayed.
Could you do something about that?

I think we might need a FAQ, too. I've noticed a lot of people asking questions over and over on the forum, so maybe answering a few of those in one place would prevent so much repetition.

And maybe a designated request thread as well, so all requests go in one place.
